Beautiful Gardens at Rushton Hall
Explore our peaceful gardens in Northamptonshire
At Rushton Hall Hotel & Spa, we’re proud of our breathtaking 20th century terraced gardens – one of the most beautiful gardens to visit in Northamptonshire.
Sir Thomas Tresham, our original owner from 1438, was a knowledgeable man, particularly with plants – a horticulturist of sorts.
He paid a good deal of attention to unglamorous subjects such as water supply, drainage and maintenance, a subject often overlooked in landscape design.
Thomas Mawson was a Lancashire man born in 1861, and it was he who made plans for the Gardens here at Rushton.
He was renowned for his designs which contained blends of architecture and planting.
Mawson later worked on National Parks and Town planning, and in 1929 became the president of the Institute of Landscaped Architects. Unfortunately, the plans drawn never went ahead.
However, since then, we’ve worked hard on our Courtyard Garden and our garden walks around the hotel, making sure our lawns, trees, bushes and flowerbeds are perfectly manicured.
Rushton Hall Hotel & Spa is also an elegant wedding venue in Northamptonshire, with our exquisite Orangery overlooking our gardens – one of the most stunning Northamptonshire wedding venues.
So take a stroll in our beautiful gardens at Rushton Hall during your Northamptonshire break.
