Ultimate Guide to Choosing Your Wedding Menu
Everything you need to know about choosing your wedding menu
A couple’s wedding is the most important day of their lives, and that naturally means leaving no detail (big or small) to chance.
You will have spent considerable time choosing colour schemes, outfits, your venue and your guest list; your wedding menu deserves just as much attention.
When it comes to wedding packages, your food offering should never be overlooked or compromised on.
Our latest blog highlights the things you should consider when choosing what dishes will become synonymous with your big day.
After all, your meal is the moment when everyone comes together to toast your nuptials, hear heartfelt speeches and to anticipate the evening celebrations that are yet to come.
Dining Style
Our wedding coordinator shares her advice. “One of the first things I discuss with couples hosting their special day at Rushton Hall is their style. This goes beyond aesthetics and attire – do couples consider themselves to be foodies or do they take a more relaxed approach to dining? Once that is established, it makes the process easier and gives our kitchen brigade a lot more to work with.”
If you like gourmet dinners, then many couples will opt for three-course meals. More informal dining will consist of buffet tables or sharing platters.
Now that your dining style has been agreed upon, you should start to consider your canapés and reception drinks.
Light bites to nibble alongside a welcome drink is the perfect way to see your guests through to the main event, so make sure that they foreshadow the style of dining they will be enjoying after you say ‘I do’.
Some couples may want to feast on dishes that remind them of special times in their relationship or simply, their favourite food.
It is worth considering whether you want to offer lots of variety or truly indulge on your wedding day (and rightly so.) “This is an opportunity to treat not only your guests but yourselves – the team of chefs at Rushton Hall are second to none, they work at the only 3 AA rosette restaurant in Northamptonshire. They can craft an unforgettable menu that you will never forget”.
Wedding Tasting
Your wedding tasting is the perfect time to communicate what you like and don’t like – and to trust the chefs with their recommendations.
At Rushton Hall, our couples can indulge and enjoy every minute at their Menu Tasting.
They can bring up to an extra 4 guests and choose 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts to try in total and this also offers the opportunity to try the wine for the big day as well!
RSVPs and Requirements
Don’t provide too many options or your guests will be spoilt for choice!
Three varieties will usually suffice, and this will also depend on your budget.
Be considerate of dietary requirements and allergies but don’t try to satisfy every possible dietary restriction.
Our coordinator has some simple advice; “There are many allergies including gluten, dairy, fruit, nuts and a whole host of other ingredients. My advice would be to always offer a vegan option (as this covers vegetarians as well) and to also include a ‘Special Dietary Requirement/Allergy’ box on your RSVP, so guests who have an important diet can let you know”
